Defects are one of the wastes according to Lean and all companies focus on reducing the defects. However, many companies are not able to eliminate defects completely.

So Inspection is carried out at multiple stages to prevent defective pieces from reaching the customers. Traditional QC tools can only reduce the defects, they cannot eliminate defects completely. Source Inspection along with Pokayoke would help in eliminating the defects.

If we eliminate Defects, we can also gradually eliminate Inspection (in the long run). We can achieve a state called Zero QC, where there is NO NEED for inspection.
