Introduction: We have started working with Greenpanel – One of India’s largest Wood products manufacturer in their srikalahasthi unit in implementing 5S in the unit. Being a new unit, there were no initiatives on 5S.
Before State: 5S was not practiced in the company. No specific location for each materials. A lot of unwanted items present in the company. Lack of Preventive Maintenance and Daily Cleaning.
Our Activities: We started the engagement with forming the core team for implementing 5S. We gave training to the core team on 5S activities. We initially started with 1 zone for 1S activities and gradually implemented 5S across all the zones in the unit.
Result: A lot of unwanted items were moved out of the unit. Specific location for each items and visual indicators are established. “My Machine My Area” has been initiated where each operator would be assigned a specific machine / area as their responsibility and this improved the overall involvement of the team and morale of the employees.
